Tesla and xAI Unveil 'Macrohard' and Terafab Project
The Next Evolution of Agentic AI: Macrohard
In a significant breakthrough for enterprise and consumer AI, Elon Musk has unmasked Macrohard (also referred to as “Digital Optimus”), a joint project between Tesla and xAI.
This ambitious initiative pairs xAI’s powerful Grok large language model with a proprietary Tesla-developed AI agent. The system is designed to process real-time computer screen video, along with keyboard and mouse actions, effectively emulating the functions of software companies and enabling advanced, autonomous workflows.
Terafab: Scaling AI Chip Production
Simultaneously, Musk announced the upcoming launch of the Terafab project. Slated for launch in the coming week, this major initiative aims to dramatically boost domestic AI chip production. By consolidating critical manufacturing processes, Tesla targets a staggering production capacity of over 100 billion custom AI chips per year. These chips, notably the AI4 chip combined with xAI’s NVIDIA-based server hardware, will serve as the backbone for Macrohard and the broader Tesla technological ecosystem.
